Use this medicated balm for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with simple backaches, arthritis, and strains. Also, many people use this for aromatherapy as the smell can be uplifting and helps clear up the nasal passages. We have personally used this at the onset of a headache by rubbing it on the temples and forehead. In most cases this short–circuits the headache and it goes away.

NOTE: This is a large bottle, at 1.7 fluid oz., and is not the small 0.85 fluid oz. size that some places sell for almost this much. However, if you compare the labels you will see that Wood Lock Medicated Balm contains much higher percentages, especially of the Methyl Salicylate.

Officially, Crystal Ice is an analgesic medicated gel. The product contains menthol and alcohol, and is a topical gel to induce localized heating.

Realistically, the DMSO and the Woodlock Medicated Balm is far superior, and the Pain Ease cannot be beat for immediate, localized heat.  We are including the Crystal Ice in our store because our personal usage evidences that this product is excellent as an anti-itch gel. We find that when applied to the skin (for dry skin itch or itching sensation from using DMSO or as a sunburn starts to heal), applying the Crystal Ice alleviates the itching within a few minutes. This is an excellent, pin point, self–massage tool. You can really get at all of the areas of the body that you can't effectively reach, including getting deep into all of the trigger points, and upper and mid–back areas to give you relief.  Please note that, while the basic design is the same, the manufacturer has changed the shape of the knobs at the end from time to time.  I use this device almost on a daily basis and have found that, so far, the small design changes do no affect the effectiveness at all.  Also, the units shipped are a little thicker than that pictured, which makes them stronger and better- I broke four of the old units and am happy they have made them stronger.
